Here you can browse through our vast catalogue of micro-museums created by other members of our community and get inspiration for how you might curate your own.
Choosing a topic for your micro-museum
Maybe you already have a topic in mind that you’d like to talk about, but can’t find any relevant micro-museums on our platform yet. That’s your calling to fill the gap in our knowledge!
Seen that there are already several micro-museums about your area of interest? Never fear, there are no limits on the number of micro-museums that can be created around a single topic, event, place, or person. Our mission is to democratise culture, and to do that, having multiple opinions and viewpoints is essential. We want to hear your interpretation.
How to create a new micro-museum on MagnificentH
1. Click ‘create new’ on the viewing gallery page
2. Select the category most relevant to your subject matter
3. Assign a historical style or decade
4. Assign a location – this could be as broad as the city or as exact as the full address. This helps others to find your micro-museum, online and in real life!
5. Add tags – think of them like hashtags but smarter. The more context you share, the easier it is for others to follow the roots and connections behind your micro-museum.
6. Publish your micro-museum!
Tips for naming your micro-museum
When it comes to choosing a title for your micro-museum, we recommend trying to be as engaging as possible. Including the subject matter is, of course, a good starting point, but perhaps try to think of a name that will pique our community’s interest and provide some insight into what they may learn from entering your museum. E.g., ‘What the mini skirt takeover of ’60s London really meant’. You’ve only got 60 characters maximum to play with, so we suggest experimenting with a few different titles until you find one that really speaks to you.
How to write an engaging micro-museum story
After you’ve chosen a title, it’s time to tell your micro-museum’s story. Maybe you only have a few lines to share, or perhaps you feel inspired to write an entire academic essay. Both are completely acceptable. Just try to ensure that your description is completely in your own words (not AI’s) and that you have separated your description into easy-to-read paragraphs so our community can easily learn more about your topic.
Choosing your micro-museum imagery
Next, you’ll need images to bring your micro-museum to life. If you don’t have any of your own photos that you’d like to use, or you’re searching for an image of a particular artefact, you can use our image library. We’ve created a full blog post here if you need help with how to do it.
You can also upload your own images to accompany your words in JPG or PNG format. We recommend a size of 1080 x 1080 pixels, and our maximum image size is 20 MB. Uploading them to the platform does not add them to our library; all rights belong to you, and the images are kept private to your micro-museum only.
Ready to share your micro-museum?
Once you’ve added your imagery, it’s time to unveil your micro-museum to our community by hitting publish. Now your digital corner of culture is open to everyone, and it will appear at the top of our viewing gallery. This page is updated every time a new micro-museum opens, to ensure every community member gets the chance of exposure.
Your micro-museum will be found when people search for relevant topics or keywords. It will sit alongside micro-museums on similar topics from other community members and become part of the collective knowledge on MagnificentH.
Need to make a change to your micro-museum?
